China's crude steel output reaches 525.10 mln tons in Jan-Oc

China, the world's largest steel producer, saw its crude steel output increase 10.7% year on year to 525.10 million tons in the first ten months of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). From Jan to Oct, the NBS said that the country's steel output soared 17.2% year on year to 664.28 million tons in the reporting period. However, its output of pig iron increased 8.3% to 496.46 million tons. In Oct, its crude steel output reached 50.30 million tons, representing a 3.8% decrease from a year earlier, and registering negative growth for a third consecutive month. China's output of pig iron declined 7% year on year to 46.82 million tons, reaching lowest level in this year. Meanwhile, the country's steel output went up 4.1 % year on year to 65.29 million tons in Oct.
